About

IN A SENTENCE: I help organizations with complex services sell to educated professionals.

CONSULTING PRACTICE SUMMARY: From strategy to implementation, I handle all aspects of marketing projects managing internal teams, external vendors, project timelines and budgets.

PROFESSIONAL PROFILE: Versatile marketing and business professional with a 25-year record of accomplishment and progressive management experience. Broad corporate marketing experience in service industries -- financial, technology, legal, management consulting, publishing, healthcare and education. Great eye for business development opportunities and a persuasive, diplomatic style useful in bringing prospective partners to the table. The drive and talent to evaluate ambiguous situations and relevant data, develop a workable plan and implement it. Solid skills in strategic planning and building internal and external relationships. Extensive experience overseeing and motivating virtual teams. Knowledge of marketing trends, technology/web-based tools and social media. Accustomed to working with high-level decision makers.

DETAILS: Projects I tackle tend to address complex issues, products and services that require a bit of education before the audience understands the value. The trick is to make that educational bit as brief and compelling as possible to draw the prospect into a conversation and ultimately the sale.

I develop corporate marketing strategies and supporting materials, online content and sites, proposals, conferences, presentations, media relations and other forms of communication to support increased visibility and sales. My corporate clients typically sell to other executives. Beyond marketing, my experience includes business development projects including preparing lengthy technical proposals, government applications and other business venture documentation.

As a sole proprietor I have been managing teams of freelance talent since the early 1990s to achieve specific client goals. At any given time I employ between 10 and 20 talented professionals including market research specialists, IT specialists/web programmers, data analysts, graphic artists, video producers, writers, translators, proofers, mail list researchers, print managers, fulfillment and data entry specialists and others. I am highly selective in my hiring and base these decisions upon project objectives.

For institutional nonprofits I provide fundraising counsel supporting board development and developing strategies and communications initiatives to build communities and giving levels, as well as secure major gifts, grants and events. Having staffed, directed, volunteered for and consulted to many non-profts during the past 25 years I bring significant experience applying corporate marketing approaches to non-profit development and communications.

Specialties

PROFESSIONAL SERVICE FIRMS: Business development skills focused on sales growth for clients in key areas and across service lines. Complex products, services and issues promoted compellingly through marketing materials, online content and social networks, conferences, business development and technical proposals and strategic affiliations.

NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS: Fundraising strategies and organizational development plans devised, donor communications and grant/funding proposals written and produced.

OPEN DOOR POLICY

I welcome new ideas and am eager to consider possibilities. I am on Twitter and Linked In among other social media. However, I use these tools largely for research (as opposed to connections and visibility) and prefer to be contacted by phone or email. Please get in touch and we can determine together whether my services can help you achieve your goals.
